“I hope to help fellow Singaporeans realise that we are a part of an amazing story of growth.”
To Dianne Goh, the short but rich history of Singapore could not be fully expressed in a few condensed chapters in the textbooks. One could sense her palpable excitement to share the Singapore story as a volunteer for “From Singapore to Singaporeans: The Bicentennial Experience”, an immersive showcase which brings key moments in Singapore’s 700-year history to life!
Stationed at the “DNA Trait” booth, Dianne gets audiences to vote for what they think is the most important DNA trait to Singapore. It is also the final stop for the showcase where Dianne learns how to connect with audiences and wraps up the meaningful experience for them, “I have to put myself in the audience’s shoes and understand how they would feel coming out of the showcase, and how I could present a fitting closure for their experience,” she said.
The Manager for Communications and International Relations at the Design Singapore Council believes that the experience not only allows her to learn something new but also helps her see how she can make a difference to others, as a volunteer or a public officer.
Catch Dianne in action at the “From Singapore to Singaporeans: The Bicentennial Experience”, from 1 Jun to 15 Sep at the Fort Canning Centre! For more information, visit www.bicentennial.sg/the-bicentennial-experience/
